Sheriff Reports for the week ending November 25, 2017



Monday, November 20

1:41 a.m. - To Peters Rd. to assist a squad with a 69-year-old man not breathing. The deputy performed CPR on the patient until medics arrived. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

3:31 p.m. - To Dogwood Dr. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that some of her prescription pills were missing. It is unknown who took them. She asked that the incident be documented.


Tuesday, November 21

1:32 a.m. - To N. County Rd. 25A for a report of a possible dead body next to the road. The body was located and identified. Members of the detective division arrived and assumed control of the investigation.

11:25 a.m. - Miami County Maintenance turned over a bicycle that was abandoned for the past three weeks in front of their building. The owner is unknown. It was submitted into property.

10:45 p.m. - To Spruce St. for a report of a theft. A woman reported that her vehicle had been stolen. She said it was unsafe to drive and uninsured and was to have remained parked. It was entered into the system as stolen. Deputies have a possible suspect.

11:51 p.m. - Traffic stop on Rt. 202 near Rt. 41. The driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant and was cited for failure to reinstate, expired registration, no license plate light and fictitious plates.


Wednesday, November 22

6:45 p.m. - To N. County Rd. 25A for a report of phone harassment. A woman reported that her ex-husband had sent her several unwanted and harassing text messages. The deputy saw several pages of texts that were derogatory toward her. She did not reply to any of them. One said "go kill yourself." She said that he was upset over child custody issues. She said she did not wish to press charges, but wanted him to stop texting her. The deputy contacted the husband and warned him, and that if he continued, he could be charged. He said he was upset because he did not get his son for the holdiay, and understood the deputy. Both parties were advised to contact their attorneys for any child custody issues they had with one another.


Thursday, November 23

1:02 a.m. - To the I-75 off ramp at mile 74 to assist a squad. A man was passed out in his vehicle. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol and was taken into custody for OVI.

2:23 p.m. - To Piqua-Troy Rd. for a report of an unruly juvenile. The juvenile was charged with curfew, no operator's license, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.


Friday, November 24

11:55 p.m. An officer saw a vehicle make two marked lanes violation in the area of Troy Urbana and Todd Ln. He initiated a traffic stop. The driver was found to be suspended. While speaking with the driver, the deputy could smell the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. He asked the driver to step out, and the driver said that there were a few joints in the vehicle. A search yielded a small bag of leafy green substance that was under the driver's seat. The driver was cited for marked lanes, driving under suspension and possession of drugs. A licensed driver picked him up.
